This book was originally published around 1970. ECGHS has received a number of requests for reprints of this book and plans to have copies available by mid-February. The reprint will be perfect soft bound and will include 418 pages of the original book with an additional 40 page index added. This book is a "must have" for anyone interested in Effingham County genealogy or history. This book was written for you. It is unique in several ways. There are as many authors as there are chapters. Each author was chosen because of their particular interst and knowledge of their respective chapter. Thus each chapter is presented in its own unique style. You will read of vanished towns, abandoned cemeteries, improvements in transportation and agriculture, growth of industry, and most importantly, the eductional and spiritual progress of the people. All this and more, about Effingham County from its beginnings with early trails up to the authors' "present time" of 1968.
