These are from the IL State Archives and they are free. You can request records on 2 deaths and need to wait until you receive them to request any more. It usually takes at least 3 weeks and often 8-12 weeks. Include the persons name, date of death and place of death. For deaths in counties with small populations or surnames that aren't so common you will probably receive it even if you don't have exact information (year of death will be close enough. Often if they don't find a person that matches what you send, they will send you a list of persons on the death index with that surname.
