I am looking for 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 census records for a Bernard Herman Hilmes and his wife Mary K. (nee Wasmuth) who lived in or around Altamont, IL during these periods. I don't have access to this info. > > According to their gravestones at St.Clare's cemetery north of Altamont, Bernard was born in 1853 and Mary in 1861. According to my aunt, they were both born in Germany. Bernard died in 1929 and Mary in 1926, both in Altamont. They were married at and attended St.Clare's church in Altamont. > > I am hoping to find out how many children they had, what their names were and perhaps some additional info on them. I know they had four daughters, Anna, Josephine, Rose and Elizabeth (my grandmother). According to Rose's obituary in 1929, they also had two sons that I know nothing about. I have seen Rootsweb entries for other Hilmes around Clinton Co. IL who list the same parent's names as Bernard did when he got married (Gerhard Hilmes / Anna Maria Kohlmann), but can make no connection. I have also seen an entry for a Mary Katherine Wasmuth, with parents "Hilmes" and "Wasmuth" who was born in Altamont and married a George Hoese from Shumway, but can make no connection to her either. > > Any help would be appreciated. > > Steve Leitzell, Clinton, IL sleitzell@mchsi.com > > > ==== ILEFFING Mailing List ==== > If you want to subscribe to this list or unsubscribe from it, send e-mail to ILEFFING-L-request@rootsweb.com or (for the > digest list) ILEFFING-D-request@rootsweb.com and put the word subscribe or > unsubscribe in the message body. > >
