    3. Hello Delores! Thanks for the information. I'm not sure if I saw the original email or not; I get so much JUNK in this email box that I often miss the GOOD stuff like this. Do you have any other information on the Meurlotts, ie, who was Samuel J married to, the names and b/d dates for their children, what kind of jobs anyone had. Thanks!! Starla Delores Rochelle Walls <Loy_Genealogy@att.net> wrote: I just wanted to email this correction/addition to my January 2004 posting regarding Starla's query about the Meurlotts. I'd mentioned the Opal Meurlott in question was daughter of Samuel J. Meurlott and that Samuel was brother to Edward Meurlott. That's still correct. But I had said Edward married Clara May Ryder and that Clara was daughter of Eliza Jane (Parks) Ryder. (Eliza being first cousin to my ancestor John Henry Loy.) However, after more census research, I discovered though Clara M. (don't know maiden name) was Edward's wife, my relative Mabel Blanche ("May") Ryder was married to Edward's BROTHER Emile. I'd still be "shirt-tail" (in-law) related to Samuel J. Meurlott, but wanted to post this correction should anyone have used info from my previous post for their family records. ==== ILEFFING Mailing List ==== If you want to subscribe to this list or unsubscribe from it, send e-mail to ILEFFING-L-request@rootsweb.com or (for the digest list) ILEFFING-D-request@rootsweb.com and put the word subscribe or unsubscribe in the message body. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. Cookbook from Teutopolis
    2. Linda Lambert
    3. I have a self-published cookbook from Teutopolis that has no date on it. I would like help dating it. I think it is in the 1960’s but I’m not sure. The title is “Our Favorite Recipes” sponsored by Teutopolis Court St. Francis No. 1711 Catholic Daughters of America, Teutopolis, Illinois). It is 8 ½ x 11, bound with a plastic comb binding. It has 3 advertisements on the front (cover page) – Weber Implement Company, Weber’s Clothing & Jewelry, and Martin IGA and Frozen Food Center. The price is $2.95. Sure could use some help dating this so I can put it in the proper place in my genealogy. Some of my grandmother’s recipes are in here, along with people I grew up with, cousins, aunts, etc. Linda

    3. Speaking of Illinois Vital / Legal Records -- we had a lot of family movement between Kinmundy, Edgewood, and Effingham Co's -- and this reminded me, does anyone have any ideas as to how I might find information on an old ADOPTION? My Grandfather Harvey Hyde, b. Oct 7, 1879 (his true birthday), Marion Co, IL (he was told), was adopted as a toddler by (Sary) Sarah Wainscott Hyde and Ephriam Hyde in Kinmundy, Marion Co, IL, shortly after the 1880 US Census was taken. The family story was that Harvey was Ephriam's natural son. Are adoptions a local court house issue? Does it depend on the county? Do those records go to an IRAD Depository after a certain date? Could an adoption be done out-of-county -- there were Hyde-family lawyer-cousins in both Sangamon Co and St. Louis, MO. I've been reluctant to start down this road, because I simply don't-have-a-clue. Has anyone else tackled something like this? -- Sue On Apr 23, 2005, at 5:20 PM, Linda Lambert wrote: Illinois has lots of online genealogy resources. 3. As it happens, I have the Effingham Co. death records at our local FHL...provided that they haven't been sent back to Salt Lake. (They were there on Wednesday but my rental period is just about up and they may have been returned.) If you send me the info, I can look it up on Wed as that is the next day that the Mormon church is open. Otherwise, I'd try ordering the film (# 1010046) from your local Mormon site and checking for yourself.
