    3. I just recently traveled to Effingham to do some research on my HILL family. I was greatly impressed with the genealogy department at the library there. I also met Ms. Bounds and she went out of her way to be helpful to me as I sifted through all the information that I was researching. There was another lady who was very helpful to me, but, unfortunately, I cannot recall her name. I plan on returning to Effingham and the Mattoon area for a Hill family reunion this year. I have a Hill Family Webpage, with a picture of my great grandfather which was taken in Effingham by the E. Butler Co: http://home.arkansasUSA.com/mhill/Hill_Family.html Michael Hill

    2. Melody Carter
    3. Hello again Joanie: You're sure keeping yourself busy helping folks out. I, especially, appreciate your efforts. You really helped me with my Dusts. One of my Tegenkamps married a Cecelia Koester. She was born Nov, 15, 1904 (Eff) and died October 16, 1977 (Eff). She married Anthony John Tegenkamp, Junior. Cecelia and Tony had 9 children, and to hear some of my Daddy's stories, they were at least his favorite cousins for entertainment. Tony Jr. was a brother to my Grandmother, Elizabeth. Several of their children are still living in Effingham but I don't know them to contact them. Would you have any idea who Cecelia's parents were? Thanks, Melody >From: [email protected] (Joanie mendenhall) >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [ILEFFING-L] KOESTER - NIEBRUGGE >Date: Sun, 23 Jul 2000 21:25:24 -0500 (CDT) > >yes, there are numerous Koester families. 3. This is what I have found at Effingham Library there may be more information but I ran out of time... The biographical sketches of ST. Anthony Church published in 1958? Effingham, IL. The KOESTER brothers: Joseph, Henry Bernard (Ricus) and Henry Three brothers are listed among the forty families who were the first members of St. Anthony parish: Joseph, Henry Bernard and Henry KOESTER. Joseph Koester and his wife Theresa Bussemeyer came to the United States from Reke-Tecklenburg, Prussia in 1835. Their first child Joseph Jr., was born in Richmond, Virigina. The family went to Cincinnati, Ohio, from whence in 1840 they came to Effingham County. Bernard Henry Koester (born 1809) and his wife, Elizabeth Schmidt (born 1808), in 1853 located eighty acres in sections 17 and 18, north of his brother Joseph's holdings. They were parents of two sons: Clemens and August. The third brother was Henry Koester, who with his wife, Margaretha Imhoff, located in Section 20, just west of Wm Althoff's land. Their children were: Henry, Clement, Frances, John, Herman and Innocens. Bernard Henry Koester (born 1809) and his wife, Elizabeth Schmidt (born 1808), in 1853 located eighty acres in sections 17 and 18, north of his brother Joseph's holdings. They were parents of two sons: Clemens and August. Clemens Koester married Elizabeth Bremer. Their children were: Henry K who married Catherine Potts (Teutopolis); Bernard married Anna Thoele; Eugene married Mary Herboth; John married Elizabeth Niebrugge; Mary married William Kenter; Clem H. ("Black" Clem, a nickname to distinguish him from "Red" Clem - derived from the color of their hair) married Clara Brummer (Island Grove); Martha, single; Veronica marred Mike Bushue; Theresa married George Grimming. Two sons died in infancy. Mrs Bushue is the only living member of the family. August Koester married Catherine Potter. Their children were: Charles, Henry, Clara, Catherine, Mina, and Rosa. €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ Elizabeth Niebrugge born: 1879 spouse:  John Koester #1360-Apr. 16, 1900 (license # & date) John A. 3. yes, there are numerous Koester families. I have found in St. Anthony Parish book Centenial 1858-1958 about 3 or 4 different Koester family unfortunately it tells of my John and Elizabeth being married and nothing else. this is started about 1858 of being Koester's that orginally started then and mention some of the descendants.
