The article in the Edwards Co. History says "John M. Michels, Jr. was born in Edwards, Co.IL on 3 Jul 1822, the son of John M. Michels and Sarah Getchell who were born in Maine and had migrated to Edwards Co. with an extended family group, arriving here in 1818. Sarah married John, Sr. in 1819 after previously being married to his brother James who had drowned in Maine. Other children, besides John Jr. were James, Susanna, Pendra and Harriett. John M. Michels...lived with his parents near Albion as a youth. On 9 Nov 1843 he married Margaret Thompson. She was born presumably in London (this is the info Terry was talking about)) in 1825, the daughter of Moses and Rachel Thompson...Their children were: Sarah, Harriett (m. James M. Vice), James, John, Henry (m. Elizabeth Chandler), Elizabeth, George (m. Jennie Hamilton), Joseph (m. Mary Ann Chandler), William (m. Nettie Kittle), David (m. Jane Tate), Margaret (m.
