I'm just jumping into this without knowing all of your discussions, but on p. 416 of v. 2 of the Edwards Co. history there is a bio of John Michels who m. Margaret Thompson on 9 Nov 1843. Says they moved to Clay Co. IL late 1840's then to Kansas. He later brought family back to Clay Co. Do you already have all of this? Let me know if you want the rest.
