Hello Edwards County Researchers: I am going to throw out to you my big Edwards County "mystery" with the hope that someone with more knowledge than I may have an idea where I can continue my hunt. My ggggrandfather was James J. Hunt Jr. was b. May 31 1829 and died in October 1865. He married Susan E. Hill. According to Edwards County, Illinois Past and Present, James died in October 1865. There is no cause of death listed, no burial info, etc. and I have been unable to find a source for his death date. He is not buried with his wife Susan E. Hill Hunt. I have not found him in any of the information on Civil War soldiers from Edwards County, or in any of the cemetery records that I have searched. I have guardianship papers for his children that I got from the Edwards County Courthouse, but have not been able to find any probate records. If any one has an idea where I should go from here, I would be happy to hear from them. I am planning a trip to Edwards County next month and would really like to make some progress on my "mystery."
