Dear Beth, There is quite a bit of information on the Wood family in a story about Henry Wood by George T. Engleman, Jr. in Volume II of the Edwards History. There is also a picture of Henry. Here is a synopsis: William and Mary Goodacre came to Edwards County in the spring of 1819. William and Mary were married in Wymeswold, Leics., England on 26 December 1796. They had John b. 27 Feb 1799 and Joseph, b. 3 Nov 1807. Mary died as the travelers approached the southern tip of Illinois. She was buried near the confluence of the Wabash and Ohio Rivers, not farm from Shawneetown. When they reached Albion, Joseph and his father joined John who had come from England a year earlier. William remarried a Mrs. Elizabeth Shepherd Carter. William died in 1841 at the age of 68 and is buried at the Old Albion Cemetery. Mrs. Elizabeth Carter Wood remarried an Edmund Johnson. Joseph Albert Wood and Elizabeth Hill Shepherd had Thomas, William, Ann, Rebecca, Henry, John, Martha, Joseph A Jr., Laura, Rosamond and Frances E. There does seem to be two Wood/Woods families in Edwards County, I hope this is the right one. If you have any specific questions I will see what I can find. Hope this helps.
