Dear Sue, You must have read my mind because I was just getting ready to write to you! Before I forget, I live in NJ. My dad was born in IL and moved to the east coast after WWII when he married my mother. I was looking for John and Margaret MICHELS today on the census records at the Historical Society, but I didn't have any luck. (The Historical Society only has up to 1850, so I'll wait until the next time I go to the Nat'l Archives.) Maybe they moved out of the county? I think that the Mary THOMPSON who married William WOODS was unrelated. Oh, I found out that I can see a copy of that journal kept by John Woods of the settlement of Albion. They have a copy in Phila. in the bldg. next to the Historical Society, where they keep some other rare books. Unfortunately, it's not opened on weekends. When school gets out, I'll head over. There was also another journal written by someone named BIRKBECK. I think he married into the WOODS family also. They have both books there. I'll keep you posted about John MICHELS/Margaret THOMPSON.
