McKIBBEN George W. McKIBBEN, Sr. (1834-1914), a member of a family of 13 children, the son of William and Louisa [POSEY] McKIBBEN, was born at Marietta, Ohio. The family moved to Edwards County in 1850 and settled in the western part of the county. He was married December 15, 1857 to Harriet A. WEST (1837 - 1915), daughter of the Edward WESTs, one of the pioneer citizens of French Creek Precinct. Harriet and George settled in the vicinity of Ellery where he farmed until they moved to their home on West Main Street in Albion. They had seven sons and three daughters. They were William H., Morris, George W., Edward E., Alice (STROUP), Violet (DIXON), Nellie, Charles, and Ulysses. Edward Everett McKIBBEN (1862-1939) married Mary Jane BUNTING (1865-1907) in 1887. She was the daughter of George BUNTING (1825-1870), who was born in Surrey, England, and Nancy McCOLLUM BUNTING (1838-1922). George and Nancy were married in Edwards County in 1854. Nancy was the granddaughter of Charles (1792-1859) and Eleanor MAY BUNTING (1794-1838) of Surrey, England. Charles and Eleanor sailed across the ocean in 1830 in a sailship from Quainton, England, came up the Ohio River to Shawneetown and then to a farm west of Albion. Edward E. and Mary Jane McKIBBEN moved to his farm in Wayne County where they lived until August, 1905 when they moved to West Main Street in Albion. They had five children: Ira E. (1887-1964), Lyman John (1890), Alice A. (1891-1968), Raymond William (1893), Ella Nancy (1895-1952). Ira E. McKIBBEN married Wilma BUSEFINK and they had two children: Nile Robert and Mary Katherine. A second marriage was to Mayme NAGLE. Lyman J. married Jessie WARD of West Salem in 1913. Raymond married Hannah FEARHEILY in 1917. They have one son, Dr. Joseph Edward McKIBBEN (1920), Winter Haven, Florida, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joseph married Annette JOHNSON in 1944. Ella married Joe VANDEVER. Alice A. married Herbert G. FRANKLAND in 1916. They had two children George Edward (1917) and Mary Anna (1919). George married Betty Anne SINGLETON; they live in St. Petersburg, Florida and have two children George Thomas (1947) and Rebecca Anne FRENCH (1950) and one grandchild Valerie Renee FRANKLAND (1977).
