"I called this number which connects directly to the "request desk" for death certificates - saves a few minutes on long distance. 1 (217) 782-3556" 2.) "When I called the phone number I was told they need it in writing. I turned around, put it in writing and was holding 2 certificates within 3 weeks. It's a little slower but I have been learning patience with my quest. The address is: Illinois State Archives The Norton Building Springfield, IL 62756" A little cheaper too.
