Elizabeth HANDS Local News Mrs. Elizabeth HANDS, one of the pioneer settlers of Edwards County, died at her home in this city on Monday, August 19th, after a prolonged illness. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon to [sic] Wanboro Church where the services were conducted by Mr. William G. CURTIS, at the conclusion of which the remains were laid to rest in Wanboro Cemetery. Two children, William and Annie HANDS, survive their mother. The Edwards County Republican, Albion, IL; Thursday 22 Aug 1901; Page 5, Column 4. ******************** Elizabeth HANDS, who departed this life on Monday, August 19, 1901, was born in Surrey, England, October 11, 1823, and at the time of her death was 78 years, 10 months and 8 days. She emigrated to this country with her parents when she was but 11 years, and was a resident of this county up to the time of her death. She was united to John Thomas HANDS on May 8, 1855. Wm.
