    3. I am looking for Beverly Fairchild who posted a query on the GENWEB earlier this year looking for Andrew Jackson Byford family in the Edwards Co area. I tried contacting her at fairchil@comteck.com but with no success. Does anyone know where she might be? I do have information on this family I would like to share with her. 3. For Terry Harper and anyone else who could help, I have been doing family research for several years now and have traced my roots back into Edwards Co. My ggreat-grandfather was Henry C. Byford and was born in 1826 in Cannon Co. TN but moved to ILL as a young man (and later married Nancy Jane Greathouse). A short time later, Hardy Byford moved to ILL from TN with the rest of his family. I have assumed that Hardy and Henry were father and son but have not been able to prove it. They both owned land there in Edwards Co. in the 1840's 60's. I have both copies of the Edwards Co. Histories but neither are mentioned. Does anyone have any info on these two familes? I would really appreciate hearing from you. Dick Byford e-mail: byford@fidalgo.net

If that time is not convenient, we can usually arrange for someone to be there at another time, by appointment. The telephone number listed (618-445-2631) is a working number, but it might be diffcult to catch some of us there. To arrange a special time for the historical society to be open, you can contact: Terry Harper 618-445-3433 or 618-445-3183 Lois Goodson 618-445-3072 Katherine Cralle 618-445-2547 We will be moving our genealogical collection to the Old Jail on the Public Square in Albion, but that is probably a good year away. 3. Hi Cindy: Do you know if the Saline Co. IL had a page on line, or can I subcribe to there mail list. I found my ancestors in that Saline Co. Il But I found their marriage record in White Co. I visited the Gen. society, in Carmi. this spring, and found their marriage record. Then I found the bride with her parents in Saline Co. So I want to find the parents marriage records. If you can help me let me know, Erma Lee Masters. judkins@yell.com Cindy Birk Conley wrote: > Terry and others, > > I have been to the public library in Albion, which only has a very > small genealogy collection. 1. Re: [ILEDWARD-L] First posting Elizah Hoover
    2. Bill I am working on a client's Edwards Co, IL family....the following HOOVERs are in my database(over 10,000 people): Jonathan HOOVER m. Mary Hyatt from VA. They were parents of Caroline Virginia, b 02 Nov 1844 in Zanesville, Putnam Co, OH, died 17 Nov 1920 in Bridgeport, IL. She m. Hyatt W. Bunn on 25 Dec 1868. They had at least 4 children: Glenn(NFI), Mary Inze (m. Jasper David Madding), Fannie C Bunn (d. in youth) and Leita Kay (d. in youth). Edgar HOOVER who m. Della Eliza Gillard on 03 Sep 1890. Geneviere HOOVER who m. Roscoe Burkingstock on 01 Apr 1934 in Albion, Edwards Co, IL. They had 5 children: Brenda, Janet, Eleanor, Doris and Keith. Laura HOOVER (01 Oct 1846-25 Sep 1938). She m. Robert William Baker on 19 Apr 1868. They had at least 2 sons: William and Edward. Unknown HOOVER who was the 1st or 2nd husband of Martha Elston. She was also m. to Emmauel Bunting from England. Looking at my various Edwards Co, IL books, I have: Edwards County, Illinois: Past & Present (1814-1980). Pg 415: Elijah HOOVER Sarah SMITH m. Elijah HOOVER and they had 4 children. Sarah lived from 1818 to 1858) and was the dgt of Thomas & Sarah Smith of Lincolnshire, England. Apparently Sarah (Smith) Hoover was born back in England before the family left for America. >From History of Edwards Co, IL: pg 270, F23: There is mention of a Glenn HOOVER as owner a farm that was sold to Charles & Hannah Bassett betweem 1897 when the Bassetts last son was born and Jul 1951 when Hannah died. pg 270-1, F24: On 06 Nov 1888, Willialm Standring m. Maude HOOVER, dgt of John & Edith (Hassel) HOOVER. She was b in Grayville in 1867. They had 2 children: Garth (1898) and Merle. Maude died in 1930 and William passed in 1950. pg 332-333, F171: Margaret (HOOVER) Short with husband, John were listed as the parents of Eliza Short. pg 343, F199: A Charles HOOVER was listed as the 2nd husband of Mary Garner(1860-1942). pg 350, F216: A Laura (HOOVER) and William Robert Baker were listed as parents of Grace(12 May 1841[England]-09 Mar 1932)Baker who m. Henry Gill. . Grace emigrated to the US at the age of 12 (c1853). Pg 481, F512: Mentions Maude HOOVER(who m. William B Standring). Maude was a schoolteacher from Grayville. Her parents were John HOOVER (1831-1905) and Harriett Hassell(1831-1926). Further explains that their children, Merle(1892-1904) and Garth(1898-1946). On page 49, under T15 (this covered the history of the various towns in Edwards Co)--a Hoover was mentioned as a land owner in 1907 in the French Creek Precinct. From the map, I saw a "M Hoover" in the northeastern portion of French Creek. I was not able to read the other names in that map to see if there were any additional Hoovers there. I hope this helps....as William HOOVER doesn't show up there. Was he born much later or what? Good luck. You might try to touch base with Terry Harper who has done much of the work in these two books. Good luck. Nancy Abbott

McKIBBEN and Samantha PHILLIPS. Trying to locate the burial place of John WRIGHT and Della M. McKIBBEN WRIGHT. It is believed that Della died between 1900 and 1920. It was thought, by a family member, that she was buried in the Old Albion Cemetery, Albion, Edwards Co., IL. However, a search of that cemetery indicates that she is likely not buried there. Terry L.
