James A. Boyer, 22, of Kansas, was killed from hostile action last Sunday in Vietnam, according to word received Tuesday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Boyer. Boyer was serving his second tour in Vietnam. Pfc. Boyer first enlisted in the Army on Nov. 4, 1964, and completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He later took advanced training at Fort Sill, Okla. He was stationed in Germany for one year in 1965, and while serving in Germany he re-enlisted for an additional six years. Following his return to the States, Pfc. Boyer attnded IBM School at Fort Gordon, Ga. and after completing the course, was assigned to Fort Sill, Okla. for further training for duty in Vietnam. He left for his first tour of duty in 1970. After returning, he was station in Fort Ord., Calif, where he trained inductees. After completing this assignment he was re assigned for further duty in Vietnam and left for his second tour April 2, 1970. He was stationed at Cu Chi with the artillery division and served as gunner on a convoy patrol. It was while on the patrol that he was kill3ed. He had recently seen action in Cambodia. Funeral arrangments are incomplete pending the arrival of the body from Vietnam. Pfc. Boyer is survived by his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Aaron Rinehart of Hamilton A.F. B., Calif. and Christi Boyer of Kansas; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleoh Brading of Kansas; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Zada Brading of Indianapolis, Ind; and several ?.
