I am doing research on my Great grandparents Alonzo Columbus Vale and Mary Ellen Cain. I had some research done in Edgar County and may be able to provide some information. Mary Ellen Cain was born to John Cain and Elizabeth Bryan in 1846 in Virginia. Her siblings were as follows: Penelope (born 1845), James (1850), Charles (1852)all in Faquier County Virginia. William (1857), Sarah (1859), Harriett (1862), Susan (1865), Martha Emaline (1869), Elizabeth (1874) born in Edgar, Ilinois. If any of these names ring a bell please let me know. I am trying to find out where Alonzo Vale took the family when they left Edgar County in the late 1800's. The trail seems to end there.
