    3. The oldest I have requested was early 1900's. All I can suggest is either contacting them direct or submitting a request. The older the request the more of a "hit & miss" it will be for not all newspapers in the early days were saved to the point of microfilming. One I requested for 1914, they didn't have. I happened to check our local library and found it in their microfilm collection. Another I was looking for was missing from EIU's collection, but the state did have it. The staff of the Newspaper Library in Springfield will make every effort to find the obituary you are looking for. In another case, the obituary requested did not exist, but as the death occurred in a train wreck, it was front page news and that article was copied and sent in place of the obit, and basically had the necessary information. I have written the library requesting their current policy and fees. When I receive a response I will post it to the list.
