Does anyone know if death certificates were issued in the mid 1800's? I am looking for the death certificate for Charles Kirby, who died 16 May 1863, Symmes Township, Edgar County Illinois and also one for Edward Kirby, who died 28 Dec 1847, Edgar County, Illinois.
