    1. Edgar Co Marriage Data
    2. Donald King
    3. Hi - I ordered a reel of LDS film recently - 1301882 Edgar Co Marriages 1885-1904, but was later informed that this reel is not available for loan (or words to that effect). Is anybody familiar with a general situation pertaining to Edgar Co or State of Illinois data? Since the data I want are in items 1 - 2, perhaps there is a problem with other items included on the reel. I am attempting to gather some information on the mother of the half-sister (Lettie Bush) of my grandmother (Nettie Bush). Their father Lewis/Louis Bush was my great-grandfather and possibly had 4 marriages. My great-grandmother was probably his third wife. Does anybody have any information pertaining the marriage of Violet 'Lettie' Bush and William Jones Aug 18, 1896? I want to identify her mother. Thanks for any consideration. Donald King

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Richey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lg.2ADE/1137 Message Board Post: I have a missing in action ancestor, John W. (middle name might also be Jackson) Richey b. abt 1850, married Anna Elizabeth Nevil on Dec 12, 1871 in Edgar County, IL. John disappeared sometime between 1883, when his daughter Dorinda was born, and 1887 when Anna remarried George Beach. The family story says that John went to work in a mine and when the family went to join him, no one knew of John or the mine (name and place of mine is unknown). I'm not sure if he was dead or ran off. I am guessing that some type of legal paperwork must have been filed in order for Anna to re-marry and/or acquire John's possessions. Anna remarried to George Beach on Aug 29, 1887 in Clark County, IL. John and Anna are found in the 1880 Dolson, Clark, IL census with children Emily, Jacob Henry, and Armon (aka Norman). Does anyone have any idea where to start looking?? Or what documentation might have been needed back then? I believe John may have been the son of Jacob Richey and Lucind! a Caldwell (1870 Census, Grandview, Edgar, IL), but have been unable to document it. I am hoping that if I find some legal paperwork declaring him dead or missing, I might finally have something to go on. Thanks.

The marriage certificate and/or license of my parents. My parents' names are Lawrence Wayne Dorman and Dorothy or Doris Evelyn Mason. They were married in late 1934 or early 1935, she was 16 & he was 20. They lived in Sullivan county, and I have heard that they "ran away" to Paris, Il. to marry. I would like to have any copy of any document to prove the date of marriage. They are both deceased and had no marriage license in their legal papers as they were divorced. My mother threw away anything she hadn't used in six months.

My grandparents' names are Charlotte Maxine Walker & Glenn Alden Vanlandingham. They got married on 6/28/1937, she was 15 & he was almost 23. Charlotte & Glenn were from Terre Haute, IN, but I think that because she was underage, they may have eloped and I have heard that back in the 1920's & 30's that Paris, IL was an in place for young couples to get married. So because I have not been able to find a marriage record for my grandparents in Vigo Co., which would be the logical place, I thought I would try in Paris, IL. If somene can find this record, please let me know where you found it so I can contact them for a copy of the certificate & license. Martha

Surnames: Sisson, Noonington, Pennington, Myotte, Lea, Jones, Malone, Hiatt, Goodner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lg.2ADE/1132 Message Board Post: Last week I bought a 3 x 5 file box at a yard sale in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was filled with mostly blank cards, but there are 12 cards containing some genealogy information for the Sisson family. I checked one card, and it contained information about the son of Henry H. Sisson and Elizabeth Noonington, who the census showed me in 1870 was living in Grandview, Edgar County, Illinois. All the cards bear the Sisson name. I called the person who was set up at his uncle's yard sale, but never heard anything back. Perhaps this file box came from some family other than his. The cards are nicely written in a woman's hand, and the style of the file box suggests it was probably purchased around 1976, as it has a patriotic theme. Any Sisson descendants of Henry on this list? The cards are for: (all surnames Sisson) Asa, Charles, Grace Myotte, Grant "Gus", Henry H. Jr., John T. "Tink", Lewis "Dad", Martha "Sis", Nancy, Orval, and Sarah "Sally".
