Greetings Listers! Please pardon the interruption, and if you've recieved this message on another list, please delete with my apologies. I just want to remind everyone that the National Genealogical Society Conference In The States is being held in Chicago this year, from June 7th thru June 10th! If you've never been to a national genealogical conference you really need to make it to this one. It doesn't matter if you're brand new to genealogy or have been doing it for years - this conference has something for everyone! This is an excellent opportunity to brush up on your genealogy skills - great speakers and programs. And also to take advantage of the wonderful research facilities available in the greater Chicagoland area. Those of us who had ancestors who lived in, or migrated through the Midwest can find valuable resources at places like the Newberry Library and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Great Lakes Region to name just two! You can save money with Early-Bird Registration by April 21st. If you would like a registration brochure just let me know and I'll see that you get one mailed to you, or you can find all the information and even register online - see the link below! If you belong to a Genealogical or Historical Society that would like to exhibit I can help with that too. If you have any questions just write to me off list! If you are going I'd love to hear from you - it would be nice to meet and put faces to names I've been seeing on the Illinois mail list. Time to plan for some summer fun with genealogy! Hope to see you there. Best Regards, Beverly Levine Smallwood Publicity Committee Member NGS Chicago 2006 Volunteers Wanted! When we went to Woodford Co., we got copies of marriage records for Lawson Lyon/Polly Usselton and their children: (1) Lucy Ann Lyon/Jefferson Riddle; Elizabeth Lyon/John Davis McGuire (3) William Lyon/Catharine Eddings. As many of you know I have been on this list a long time. I started searching in about 1997 before I got a computer. Because our line is so difficult to search, every clue was followed up on and proven without a doubt in anyones mind. I was about to go to a pyschic because of a brick wall. One of our line of Ingram cousins' said - Let's go the DNA route. Long story short. He is I1b and my husband is R1b. We are NOT related. Now we need a tie breaker. I have asked the very few Ingram cousin's we have to take the DNA test. Needless to say I am pretty discouraged. There is an adoption or illegitimacy somewhere that we have missed. I know, I know, it's a chance for another mystery to solve. AND as soon as I recooperate, I may have fun again. We went through www.dnaheritage.com. There is tutorial, there is a special rate until the 7th of March this year. Are you brave enough to test your "paperwork" against the DNA testing? Sure was a surprise to me. Surnames: Blanchard, Blancett, Blanset, Blanchet Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lg.2ADE/1221 Message Board Post: Hi, looking for descendants and relatives of Elmer Bruce Blanchard (b 1884). In the 1930 census for Chrisman City, Edgar Co., IL, "Bruce E Blanchard" and wife Anna had children Walter, 24, John, 21, Charles, 20, Elizabeth, 18, Mabel, 14, Mary E, 10, and Virginia, 7. We have traced this line back to Horatio Blanchard who migrated from northern Virginia to Kentucky, then Ohio. His son Horatio settled in Edgar County IL with many descendants; would like to locate some today, as we are trying to connect various branches of Blanchet and Blanchard descended from original Virginia settlers. Especially interested in DNA data for the growing Blanchard DNA project. Thanks - Janet Wright, g-granddaughter of Elizabeth Blanset of northern Missouri
