Surnames: CRYDER/CRIDER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lg.2ADE/1245 Message Board Post: I'm searching for information on John Cryder, born about 1834 in Ohio and moved from Ohio to Buck Twp, Edgar Co between 1860 and 1870. Wife through 1870 appears to be Rebecca (b. abt 1836), then he married Angeline Stewart (b. abt 1879) in Edgar Co. Specific questions - Birthdates for John, Rebecca and Angeline? Did they divorce or did Rebecca die? Maiden name of Rebecca? There were several children born to John and Rebecca - did Angeline have children? When/why did the name change to "Crider"? (this was my grandmother's grandfather so I know the spelling change was permanent and not just a census error 1 year) Thank you for any help!!! Marcia Lewis malewis1@cox.net

We have always assumed they were SMITHS until I found the Census info and these stories. My aunt told me that she remembers her mother, my grandmother, Zeta telling her that the mailman was confused over the names that he was delivering and when they explained to the mail man he said "Just change your name." My sister remembers my grandmother, Zeta, telling about her grandfather coming from Germany and cou! ldn't speak english married a Native American and had children. His wife died and he returned to Germany that is why she didn't know much about Charles' father, the one from Germany. Any help with this name or families will be wonderful.
