Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/406 Surname: BOYER, SMITH ------------------------- I hadn't been paying much attention to this thread until I saw the name Lydia Boyer. FYI: My husband's gg grandfather, Asbury T. Hefner, married a Mrs. Lydia Boyer Smith on Oct 8 , 1898. Notes on the marriage record show the parents of Lydia were John Boyer and Elizabeth Durr, she was born in Harrison Co, IN, and her age was 70 (born ca 1828). Her residence at the time of marriage was Cedar Co, MO. Notes for Asbury T Hefner show his parents to be John Hefner and Polly Roby and he was 68, born in West Virginia. It was the second marriage for both. His residence was Conlogue, IL. Asbury T's first marriage was to Mrs. Martha J. Merrick Nuby on Feb 21, 1863, Edgar Co, IL.

    3. The requirements use to be a maximum of four requests at $.25 each plus $1.00 for the search ($2.00 total). It has be awhile since I have made a request and have heard their rates have raised. It may be $1.00 each now. That's still reasonable. Without success, I attempted to locate a phone number for the library. 3. One additional source is to contact: Newspaper Librarian Old State Capitol Building Springfield, IL There is a fee and limit to the number of inquiries per each request. You must supply them with the persons name, date of death, location and SASE. This is a manual look-up and they receive numerous inquiries, so be patient as response is slow (approx. 4 weeks). However, have had great success with their services. They not only look up obituaries, but will send a photocopy of an article if known when published. 3. There is no Edgar County Public Library. Paris Public Library does not maintain an obituary file. I don't know what genealogy information is maintained by Kansas Memorial Library and Chrisman Public Library for their areas. Edgar County Genealogy Library maintains a complete obituary file from 1985 to the present; some may be available before 1985. For obituaries in the time frame you mention, there are two other possibilities: If you live in Illinois, ask your local public library to borrow the Paris Beacon on microfilm through interlibrary loan from the Illinois State Historical Library. Or go to Vigo County Public Library's website for information about obtaining copies of obituaries from the Terre Haute IN newspapers (1903-1966) http://vax1.vigo.lib.in.us/~obits/index.htm . Edgar and Clark County, IL obituaries are usually run in Terre Haute newspapers.

    3. This is abnormal mail for me, and it is not exactly genealogy related, but it is important, it was passed to me at work and I felt the need to pass the info on. If it bothers anyone, please delete it, but please don't flood the lists with replies about it, reply to me directly. Thanks all Jim Williamson We need those of you who are great at forwarding on info with your e-mail network. Please read and pass on. It would be wonderful if 2000 were the year a cure for breast cancer was found! This is one note I'll gladly pass on. The notion that we could raise $16 million by buying a book of stamps is powerful! As you may be aware, the US Postal Service recently released its new "Fund the Cure" stamp to help fund breast cancer research. The stamp was designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland. It is important that we take a stand against this disease that kills and maims so many of our mothers, sisters, friends. Instead of the normal $.33 for a stamp, this one costs $.40. The additional $.07 will go to breast cancer research. A "normal" book costs $6.60. This one is only $8.00. It takes a few minutes in line at the Post Office and means so much. If all stamps are sold, it will raise an additional $16,000,000 for this vital research. Just as important as the money is our support. What a statement it would make if the stamp out sold the lottery this week. What a statement it would make that we care. I urge each of you to do two things TODAY: 1. Go out and purchase some of these stamps. 2. E-mail your friends to do the same. Many of us know women and their families whose lives are turned upside-down by breast cancer. It takes so little to do so much in this drive. ===== Jim Williamson Researching: Williamson, Marth, Kinsella, Case, Pace, Hall, Straub, Fox, and McCurdy (the last until I can prove/disprove a link to the Williamson line) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [ILEDGAR] Blankenship
    2. Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin BLANKENSHIP without much to go on. I am sending this to the Illinois lists because I am thinking that since his wife was born in IL and her parents in TN, that maybe the Blankenship's moved from TN to IL, then to MO. Unfortunately I do not have last names for the women born in IL, but I figure that if I start shooting in the dark long enough, I will hit something. I estimate the Blankenship's migrating to IL after 1825. I found Calvin BLANKENSHIP married to DELIAH on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP and his wife, PAMELA JANE. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll, since he was a confederate), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!!
