    1. [ILEDGAR] Church family genealogy
    2. Robert L Webb
    3. I'm not a family genealogist (my family tree is being worked on by thousands already) but am interested in my "church family" - would like to know about any Old School, Hardshell, or Primitive Baptist churches in the county. I know a little, but not a lot. Some of you may have ancestors you can tell me about. 3. The oldest I have requested was early 1900's. All I can suggest is either contacting them direct or submitting a request. The older the request the more of a "hit & miss" it will be for not all newspapers in the early days were saved to the point of microfilming. One I requested for 1914, they didn't have. I happened to check our local library and found it in their microfilm collection. Another I was looking for was missing from EIU's collection, but the state did have it. The staff of the Newspaper Library in Springfield will make every effort to find the obituary you are looking for. In another case, the obituary requested did not exist, but as the death occurred in a train wreck, it was front page news and that article was copied and sent in place of the obit, and basically had the necessary information. I have written the library requesting their current policy and fees. When I receive a response I will post it to the list. 3. Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/413 Surname: MADDEN ------------------------- Jim, I have a Daniel Madden in my genealogy database. He was the son of Charles and Catherine (Clear) Madden, who emigrated from Birr, County Offaly, Ireland, to Castle Fin, Clark County, Illinois, which borders the southern edge of Edgar County. I don't have any information as to whom Daniel married. I do have a genealogy typescript prepared by Marianna Madden in the late 1960s that indicates that it was thought that Daniel Madden moved to Washington, Daviess County, Indiana. However, I have searched through Daviess County records and census data and cannot turn up a Daniel Madden in there. My Daniel Madden was probably born before 1860. He was born in Ireland and came over to the US with his parents and 11 of his 12 siblings, settling in Clark County. The Madden family was strongly Catholic, with many of the females within several generations of the family becoming nuns. Any of this information sound familiar? Any link?
