    3. You can access the Website of the Edgar County Genealogy Library at: www.tigerpaw.com/ecgl/ and download forms with fees for ordering research and publications for sale. We ask for advance payment of re- search fees. You will be billed for copies and postage. Most Edgar Co Marriages from 1823-1860, 1878-1900 are abstracted from original records, license application, and/or marriage returns. So they often provide a lot of additional information, for instance after 1878 ages of marriage couple, places of birth and residence, times mar- ried; names of parents, by whom and where married, names of witnesses; record book and page. Vol 1, 1823-1860 gives additional information if it was available from original "vouchers." Over 160 cemeteries in county have been read and recorded, and these records are now being updated by volunteer members of the Genealogical Society. 3. The correct location for Prairie Township Cemetary is near Scottland, IL and not west of Chrisman. The cemetary is very easy to find and in good condition. The older graves are to the west of the church and newer graves are to the right. I also don't recall the driving directions to the cemetary but think it is better known in the area as the Friends Chapel Cemetary in Scottland. A few years back there were a couple of signs that directed you to the church once you were near Scottland. Hope this helps.

Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/447 Surname: SOUTHARD, DAWSON, DAILY, COOK ------------------------- There is a Prairie Township Cemetery in Edgar County east of Chrisman and near Scottland Illinois. It is north of State Road 36. The cemetery is located at Wesley Chapel/Friends Chapel, a lovely country church on a grassy knoll. I do not have a county road map and do not recall driving directions there. Inquiring in Scottland, Chrisman or even Paris would probably get the directions you need. Check the enclosed URL for other names associated with that cemetery and county location. Link: Edgar County Cemeteries URL: <http://www.tbox.com/isgs/ilcemetery-al/edgar.html>

    1. Re: [ILEDGAR] Gill Family
    2. What a small world. I am decendant from: Floyd R. Gill (1896 - 197?) son of William A. Gill (1853 - 1922) son of Felton Gill (1825 - 1898) son of Robert Gill (1797 - 1883) That is about all I have. I do have copies of the obit for William A. Gill which says he was survived by two brothers - Robert and Fulton and two sisters - Mary and Luck (?) I also have an obit for Felton Gill (I assume William's brother). I have only been researching the Gill line for a short time (about a year). The Gill's were never talked about much in my family (Floyd abandoned my Grandmother - Ruby - when my mom was only a few months old). Someday maybe I will get more details. Thanks for inquiry. If anything connects to your line I would love to hear about it. Thanks, Sue

I am researching the Williams, Gill and Heydon Families from Edgar Co. In my travels to the area I have a county map that lists the location on cemeteries in the county. The only one listed for Prairie Township is located on County Rd 2300 just west of Chrisman. This road is actually Monroe Street in Chrisman. The map indicates there is also a church at the location (it doesn't give the name though). Hope this helps. Sue

I recently found the obituary for my great uncle, Clovie Walker "Jack" Hollen. Clovie was estranged from the family for many years and passed away 05 JUN 2000, at the VA Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. The obituary indicates a graveside service was held at the Prairie Township Cemetery, rural Chrisman. Is anyone familiar with this cemetery? If so, I'd like to have the address or driving directions.
