Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/498 Surname: Lovell ------------------------- Hi Teri, I just realized I left off some information. I have a copy of a part of the 1880 census from Richwood Township, Miller Co., MO. It shows Susan as 14 years old and an older brother William F. at 15 years old. It also lists the mother Elizabeth J. as 36 years old. I believe they left Miller Co., but do not know for sure where they went. I ordered some microfilm on newspaper obits from the Montgomery Co paper. Ancestry.Com had free days right before Christmas and two of the deaths listed were John W. Lovell died 3-1880 and a Elizabeth J. Lovell dying June 1911. She may have remarried. I will let you know what I find. I don't know how long it will take the library here to receive the film. Phyllis
Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/497 Surname: Lovell ------------------------- Hi Teri, So nice of you to respond to my query. I am not sure the Lovells came from Edgar Co. My information on Susan shows that she married a Wash Arnold. Other than that I have no information on her. She could have moved from MO. My husband's grandfather is Joseph Nolen Lovell, her brother. I believe Susan was born in either Cole Co. or Miller Co. MO. If you can make a connection in Edgar Co. that would be great. I do know that Susan's father was John W. Lovell and her mother was Elizabeth or Elizabette Russell. John W. father was Daniel R. Lovell. Maybe this will help. Thanks, Phyllis

My George Reed family was in the 1850 Edgar County Census. They were in the 19th District. Does anyone know what town was in that area? I have found several Reed families in Edgar County through land records, but not sure which one is mine. A town name would narrow my search. Would appreciate your help. Deb

Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/487 Surname: Mattingly ------------------------- In the 1879 History of Edgar County, IL on pages 388-389 there is a mention of Baldwinsville in connection to Cambridge City: "Cambridge City is the oldest city or town in the county, the record of the plat bearing date August 2, 1820. Just where it is or was located (for there is not a trace to mark the site) no one can tell, except by consulting the records. From them we learn that it was on the northeast quarter of Section 9, Town(ship) 14 north, Range 11 was which is now embraced in Hunter Township...Baldwinsville, at a later period, we believe, absorbed Cambridge. A post office and store was once kept here, by a man named Baldwin, and went by the name of Baldwinsville Post Office. But it has long passed away, and the site of the place is now a cultivated farm." I am searching for the Mattingly families who came from KY to the Edgar/Vigo counties area.

I am looking for more info on T.(Timothy?)W. Parker who came to Edgar Cty. Illinois about 1824 from Vincennes Indiana. I Think prior to Vincennes he lived in Clark Cty. Indiana. He built a 3-wheeled steam car which he demonstrated in front of the Edgar County Illinois Courthouse in 1825. Please help me find out more about him. Thank-you very much for any help you can give me.
Hello, Death records in Illinois were not kept until beginning in the 1870s (ca 1877). Edgar County's death records do not begin before then. Alternatives to death records are: probate records, church records, and obituaries among others. Good luck with your search. Darryn Lickliter
