    1. 1920's Homes for Unwed mothers?
    2. Hello, At a standstill here... Grandmother's maiden name per fathers marriage certificate 1950 is listed as "Artie" Hurst (female) and father was listed as Unknown. Artie Hurst gave birth to Eugene Elmer Landham about 1920-1925 in Chrisman Illinois. Have not found any Hurst-Landham marriage record yet. Artie Hurst (Artie has to be nickname) would have been born 1900-1910, and may have given birth in a home for unwed mothers. There is a mystery here. Does anyone know if there was a place for unwed mothers in 1920 - Edgar County? Told that many siblings in this family and Eugene Elmer was raised by a Wilson or Clark family possible relatives and may have lived in nearby Indiana. Any input appreciated. Anne Rupert posted this message for Karen Landham

Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/10546 Surname: SOUTHARD, DAWSON, COOK, DAILY, ANKRUM, PARK ------------------------- There is a Bloomfield in Edgar County, Illinois, on State Highway 1, north of Paris and south of Chrisman. It is probably in Edgar Township. Redmon is not in Stratton Township, but probably Buck or Embarrass Township. Vermilion is in Stratton Township. You might try the Edgar County Genealogy site at MyFamily.com. If you do a Search for Individuals, some Millers and Roys are listed. Some aspects of navigating this website do not work well and much of the information is incomplete. However, you might find some leads. Good luck.

Posted on: Edgar Co., IL Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Edgar/10545 Surname: Franklin, Jones, Miller, Roy ------------------------- Thanks for responding to my message. I'm looking for Ancestors and Descendants of Marion Miller, born 1857 Near Old Bloomfield? Where is that anyway? Indiana? I don't know, if anyone knows, please let me know the State & County. Marion Miller died in 1941 in Edgar County, IL. He was married to Sarah Roy, born 1864 in Stratton Township, Redmon , Illinois, Sarah died, 1956 in Edgar County Illinois. Sarah's Parents are: Isreal Roy & Harriet Jones married 1852 in Edgar County Illinois. FYI: That is the only information I have on the Surname of JONES. Sarah was the last surviving member of her siblings of eight (I have no sibling information for this Roy Family except for Sarah & Celila) However, Marion & Sarah Roy had at least eight children together that I'm aware of, one of them was: Estella Miller born, 1882 in Vermilion, Illinois. Estella married John Franklin 1897 in Edgar County, Illinois. Estella & John Franklin are my Great-Great Grandparents. Estella & John Franklin had four children together. Family members haven't been unable to provide much information on John Franklin. Estella later remarried and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Estella Miller-Franklin-Poole died in 1970 and is buried in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. If any of this information sounds familiar to anyone, please feel free to email me directly if you like at: [email protected] Thanks, Susan
