I just wanted to let everyone know that Jim Bauer (with Roy's permission) has posted excerpts from the Weigand family's early memories of Lombard, Illinois. Note: Jim said I should mention that this is the Weigand family from York Township...not from Naperville. I have really enjoyed reading them and hope you will, too. I've got them linked from the York Township page and from the Diaries and Letters. I just got back from Charleston, SC (Hurricane Irene and I arrived at the same time!), where I spent some time rummaging through my cousin's old trunk. I always find new things, and this time came back with a few obituaries of my Illinois group (unfortunately, my great-grandmother neglected to note the date on some). I also found a large portrait of my grandfather's sister, who died at age 17 at her grandparent's home in Hinsdale. I photographed it and hope I got a good image for reproducing. Anyway...I was thinking about putting together a page for our Illinois ancestors and family members who died young. Just a line, or a paragraph, with a photograph if available. Any suggestions for a name of this page that won't be too hokey (although, maybe hokey comes with the territory)? Is this too morbid? Let me know what you think...
