Probably distantly related. Actually there was another Sabin in Naperville at the same time (quite a shock to me!), but then, there were a lot of New Englanders migrating at that time to Illinois. As far as I know there are only two groups of Sabins in the US. The early Sabins came from England and settled in Rehoboth, MA in the 1630s. All of us are descended from William Sabin, so we are all related. Of course, from there they moved all over New England and then many migrated west. I think we were the first Sabins in the south <G>. In 1960, when we moved to Atlanta, we were the only ones in the phone book. I've never met another Sabin face to face! The other Sabins are Jewish and may be of the same descent as Dr. Albert Sabin who invented the oral polio vaccine. I believe he was of Russian-Jewish heritage, and I assume the name was derived from something else. There are a few Jewish Sabins in Atlanta, including a Patricia A. Sabin. Her husband picked up my vacation photographs at Eckerds once, and I'm sure she was surprised! The other day I got a call from Kroger that I had left my wallet in the store, and it was hers. One day I'll have to introduce myself to my alter-ego! Sorry, list, for going off on this tangent! Pat Sabin
