No, but coincidently I dated a guy in college named Ellis and he also was Greek (from Tennessee). It had been shortened in his father or grandfather's generation. Maybe they're related somehow. My Ellis family migrated from Massachusetts, through Vermont, NY and to Summit County, Ohio around 1810. All the surviving children who had offspring were girls, as were every one of my N IL families - lots of surnames (all of them common as dirt). They moved to Naperville, and then to surrounding counties and towns, in the early 1840s. My Albert S. Sabin married Sarah Ellis in Bath Ohio in 1852, but the strange thing is that the Sabins had been in Naperville since 1833. I can only figure that the Sabin and Ellis families met in NY and remained friends all that time. Pat S > > Mildred in Lake Geneva, Wi
