Listers, I usually let the off-topic ones go by, but after two slams of Friends of the Library, I couldn't help but put my two cents in. I am the Secretary of a local Friends of the Library and we DO NOT treat donations as mentioned in two prior posts. Books received at the library are sorted through by library personnel first - books are put on library shelves if warranted, or we may get a call to come look at a donation to see what might be done with it. I personally have seen to it that certain items got a good home! We have never bought smut for the shelves! We finance the entire Summer Reading Program, give college scholarships for library pages and Friends' members, buy Books for Babies packets, etc. I don't want people out there to think that what you hear previously is the way Friends organizations operate! Perhaps it would be wise to check the library/Friends policy before donating! Thanks for your time, Anne
