Christine Would you mind looking up the name Haefele for me? There may be variations of the name - Haefle, Hafele, Hafley, Hoefle, Hofele. My ggr-uncle August Haefele married Ida MANBECK in 1880 (or at least close to that). They must have lived in or near Naperville for a while, as he graduated from North Central College in Naperville in 1878. I've also been told his name is in some indexes for Naperville history. He was an itinerant Evangelical preacher for many years in northern Illinois, and from what I understand he and Ida are buried in a cemetery in Naperville - maybe in the Manbeck plot? I have not gotten that far with the details of this branch of the family. I am really searching for info on August's father - Georg Heinrich (aka Henry) - who left southern Indiana and came to northern Illinois in the late 1860's with 1 or 2 of his sons.My mother has a totally unsubstantiated death date on Henry Haefele of March 1872, but we really don't know where, when or how he died. Finding August's name on the 1878 graduate list for North Central College is what originally convinced me to at least consider there might have been some Haefeles there in Dupage county. Anything you can find would be appreciated! Thanks so much for offering this help!
