    3. David, Thanks for the info! The reason I wanted the address for the Gary-Wheaton Bank is that the history of Wheaton, "From Tower to Tower" was commissioned by the bank to commemorate their 100th (?) anniversary. It held the copyright. If the bank is no longer in business, I wonder what my responsibility is regarding copyright? Hmmm... Pat David Berna wrote: I could not find a listing for the Gary-Wheaton Bank. They must have been bought out by another or merged. I know there used to be a bank on Route #59 by the Fox Valley Mall and now there is another bank there with a different name but for the life of me I can't remember the name.

    3. Pat: The address for the Naperville Sun is 1500 W. Ogden Avenue, Naperville, IL, 630-355-0063. The paper is owned by the Copley Newspaper chain. Their web site is www.copleynewspapers.com. I could not find a listing for the Gary-Wheaton Bank. They must have been bought out by another or merged. I know there used to be a bank on Route #59 by the Fox Valley Mall and now there is another bank there with a different name but for the life of me I can't remember the name. I think what you are doing is great. I have family from DuPage (Addison area) (1860's) John and Fredricka Martin, and Henry and Mary Oldenburg (Elk Grove area) (1870's) so I am waiting for you to add that area to your site. If there is anything else you need, please feel free to contact me. I live in Kane County (Big Rock) and would be willing to help in any way I can. ----- Original Message ----- From: Pat Sabin <psabin@bellsouth.net> To: <ILDUPAGE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 24, 1999 10:09 PM Subject: [ILDUPAGE-L] DuPage Mailing Addresses > Hello, Again! > > I have a couple of books from which I would love to transcribe > information, but these particular ones are still under copyright. 1. [ILDUPAGE-L] DuPage County History Site
    2. Pat Sabin
    3. Hi, Everyone, I feel like it's been a long time since I've posted, but I've been busy with several genealogy projects! I have accumulated such a nice library on DuPage County and feel compelled to share it online. The American Local History Network asked me to offer a DuPage County site, and you can find the very beginning stages at: http://www.usgennet.org/~ahildupa/ My first goal is to transcribe large portions of "A History of the County of DuPage, Illinois," by C. W. Richmond & H. F. Vallette, published in 1857. I will move on to other transcriptions and features as time permits. I do need your help and would love to have your participation! I am offering a Surname Registry for DuPage County surnames, and this will give you the opportunity to list your primary surnames and also your URL if you have a genealogy website. Also, I would LOVE to include Biographies, Obituaries, Diaries, Letters, and other documents that will make our ancestors more real. If you have this information on your web page, I'd love to link to it. If you have anything you think might be of interest, and it is not under copyright, please let me know. Each town eventually will have it's own page, and I will add or link relevant information to that town page (you'll have to forgive me that I'm starting with Naperville!) I hope you'll visit and will think this will be a contribution to the DuPage County research community. If you have any ideas, suggestions, comments, please don't hesitate to share them. It will take time, but I hope it's a place you can visit and find something new each time. Pat Sabin DuPage County IL ALHN County Host New London County CTGenWeb CC Jonesborough, TNGenWeb Town C

    2. Evangelical Archive in Rosemont: What type and extent of records do they retain? Do they have birth/baptism, confirmation, marriage, death/burial records for congregations/churches in the Chicago area? How old of records? Are the records set up by congregation or pooled and segregated by chronology? My ancestors came from Pomeranian in the 1860's-1880's and lived in the Chicago area. All of them were Evangalisch/Lutheran. Has anyone visited and used the Archive in Rosemont? Thank you so much for your valuable work. Local congregation records have allowed me to find my living family. I grew up in Elmhurst not having any extended family. Now I can enjoy my extended family. God bless you, Gary Johnson, DDS

    1. [ILDUPAGE-L] Edward Swikard died about 1957
    2. My grandfathers name was Edward L. Swikard. I have been trying to obtain some record of his death, with no success via the Cook County lists. Since my Dad, John Raleigh Swikard grew up in Downers Grove, I thought maybe he might have buried him there, although I don't think he would as his Dad had left his family in the early years, and had always remained in the Chicago City area working for Speigel Catalogue for 45 years. If anyone comes across this name, please let me know, he is remaining to be a critical mysterious link! I know his fathers date of death, but not his! Many thanks, Jackie Swikard-Shaffer
