If you'll give us a short while, virtually the entire book will be transcribed. Township histories are complete for Bloomingdale, Milton and Naperville. Lisle and Addison are in progress. County officers are complete for every township. The 1874 township histories, plus the county history for 1857, are up. Although these are the projects I'm working to complete right now, if anyone is willing to transcribe any non-copyrighted material (or copyrighted and used with consent) I'll stop everything and upload it. There's always room for interesting tidbits! Pat Sabin DuPage County A.L.H.N. - http://www.usgennet.org/~ahildupa/ NOELLEHART@aol.com wrote: > > Would it be possible for you to do any look-ups? Hello Pat: What townships are you looking to farm out and what is your time line?? I travel alot and so it might take abit if I can squeeze in the time Erv
Pat: There is a first edition of this book available at Bibliofind for a mere $575.00. Your photocopy is quite a bargain. Thought you might be interested in knowing there are copies still around. Would it be possible for you to do any look-ups? All of my family lived in DuPage County; Wheaton, West Chicago, and Plato Center. The names are Karstens, Schulte, Ahern, and Colford. Nina

Thanks, Erv! Someone did offer to transcribe those two pages. I'll let you know if that doesn't work out. However...if you get bored and want something to do, I'm still chipping away at those township histories. I think I have two or three not yet done! I think I paid about $45.00 for Higginson to reprint it. It really is a good book. I always check with Bibliofind first before bidding on any books at e-bay, although it's unlikely they'd have this particular book. Hey, you're not supposed to be answering e-mail! Yes, that's the one. I had Higginson reprint the book for me (for more than $28.00!). Either these pages were missing from their original, or they goofed in the reprint. Sounded like an interesting story, and it stopped in mid sentence. I don't know if I mentioned this, but the copy I got, which is literally a bound photocopy of the original 1857 book, has the Sabin and Vaughn names underlined in the book. That can only mean that whoever owned the original was connected to my family. Isn't that amazing? Thank your wife for offering to transcribe. That would be wonderful, but there is no rush. I know you've both got more important things on your minds. I hope you're feeling a little better today. I am chipping away at transcribing the 1857 town histories (albeit often diverted by juicier topics). I was working on Addison Township, and find that I am missing two pages, right in the middle of an interesting story!
