    3. Susan: I just got 5 from DuPage. I called and they said $7.00 each. So I sent a letter and a check for $35.00. When they came, I got a check back for $30.00. They only charged me a dollar each and the copies were stamped "Genealogy Use". Quite a surprise. 3. Well, I'm now amazed that I got my marriage license copy (DeKalb Co.) free. I sent a letter, offered to pay for copying costs, and they sent me four copied pages (same marriage record) with a nice letter and not one mention of money. Guess it depends on their mood. I did find this information at the IRAD site: "Fees: The research services of the IRAD system are provided at no charge. Therefore, when requesting information by mail a self-addressed stamped envelope is not necessary. However, there may be a photocopy fee for which you will be billed. Unless an expenditure limit is set in advance by the researcher, authorization to produce photocopies will be requested for billings that exceed $5.00." Monica

    2. My ancestors Silas Thomas Baker and Alice Pye lived in Downers Grove and Alice is buried in the cemetery there. She gave birth to two children, my gg-grandfather, Charles Augustus Baker and his sister Cora Baker (Mrs. Oscar Potter of Cook Co.). But she died in childbirth to a third child. I have a copy of her photo. She was also very beautiful. She died around 1870. Barry Jernigan

    3. I'm taking Bonnie's phrase "Unfinished Lives" for the new DuPage A.L.H.N. page, which will be a tribute to those who died young. I don't want to index the page yet, because it's nothing but Sabins, but I have uploaded it at http://www.usgennet.org/~ahildupa/unfinishedlives.htm If you have someone you'd like to honor here, please let me know. I would say the cut off age would be around forty, give or take a few years. If you don't have a photo to use, or if you can add one later, let me know and I'll add it when you're ready. Thanks, Pat

    1. [ILDUPAGE] Lombard-Early Memories
    2. Pat Sabin
    3. I just wanted to let everyone know that Jim Bauer (with Roy's permission) has posted excerpts from the Weigand family's early memories of Lombard, Illinois. Note: Jim said I should mention that this is the Weigand family from York Township...not from Naperville. I have really enjoyed reading them and hope you will, too. I've got them linked from the York Township page and from the Diaries and Letters. I just got back from Charleston, SC (Hurricane Irene and I arrived at the same time!), where I spent some time rummaging through my cousin's old trunk. I always find new things, and this time came back with a few obituaries of my Illinois group (unfortunately, my great-grandmother neglected to note the date on some). I also found a large portrait of my grandfather's sister, who died at age 17 at her grandparent's home in Hinsdale. I photographed it and hope I got a good image for reproducing. Anyway...I was thinking about putting together a page for our Illinois ancestors and family members who died young. Just a line, or a paragraph, with a photograph if available. Any suggestions for a name of this page that won't be too hokey (although, maybe hokey comes with the territory)? Is this too morbid? Let me know what you think... I lost my son this year and "Unfinished Lives" are just as important in the scheme of things as those that had a full span of years. Bonnie

    3. Hello List, I am trying to find information about a park in Des Plaines that the property was originally donated by the BIERMANN family. The family is my 2nd great-grandparents. My father has been there a long time ago when traveling. It's my understand that the local historical society was going to be taking over the property. If any one knows anything about this park or how to contact the historical society (or if they have a web page), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Mary Biermann-Rathburn

Sec 2 Is this a landowners map that shows the location of the property of these two? If so, how can I get a photocopy of this map, specifically of Bloomingdale Twp. Will reimburse for expenses. 3. My husband's grandmother also lived and died there. A good source to check is Geils Funeral home. They are the most prominent funeral home in the area and it is located just down the street from where the Bensenville rest home was.
