    1. [ILDUPAGE] RootsWeb WorldConnect
    2. Pat Sabin
    3. Hello again- This may be old news to most of you, but I didn't remember if this had been announced on the list. RootsWeb's WorldConnect just came out of beta testing a couple of weeks ago and is available to all researchers. I've uploaded all my gedcoms and it is very easy to upload and to update. You don't have to have a genealogy web page, but if you do it allows a link back to your page. You decide on the title for the gedcom, and can also add a header and footer (you may want to distinguish your particular line, locale, or primary surnames). If you are new at this and have genealogy software but have never converted a file to a gedcom, just post any questions you have to the list and I'm sure someone can help (there also is a RootsWeb helf forum, but you probably won't need it). I'm not advertising for RootsWeb, but just wanted to let you all know that this is available at no charge. Pat Sabin >From the RootsWeb Review: MILLION NAMES ON ROOTSWEB WORLDCONNECT PROJECT. UPLOAD YOUR GEDCOM OVER THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY. As of today, RootsWeb users have uploaded more than 6.7 million names of their ancestors to the RootsWeb WorldConnect Project. Search the names already uploaded and/or upload your own GEDCOM at <http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/>.

    1. RE: [ILDUPAGE] Illinois Marriage Records
    2. Sharon Knight
    3. Help, My parents were married in 1920-1921 in either Cook County or DuPage County. We cannot find anything in our papers that we have that tell us when they were married. What would be the best way to research this. I have found my mother still at home in Downers Grove in the 1920 census. The Illinois Marriage Records on line are not recent enough to help us. My mother, Nellie Genevieve Andrus, lived in Downers Grove all her life until she married my father, George Ervin Lamphear, and moved to Chicago. My oldest brother, Eugene Andrus Lamphear, was born in the Cook County Hospital August 24, 1921 but by 1923 they had moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Thanks for any and all suggestions. 1. [ILDUPAGE] Church Records
    2. Hi Listers! My name is Adrianne and I joined the list just in time to see only the replies to certain messages and hope you will bear with me if I ask you to repeat yourselves. One such message was to Pattie and it referred to a book called Churches and Their Records 1833-1920. Someone was going to look for records of St. Stephen's Church in it at a library. My question is: what library? I would like to look at the book myself. 1. [ILDUPAGE] Wills & Probate Lists
    2. Hi, My name is Adrianne and I joined the list just in time to see part of a conversation between Page and Cidney about wills and probate information at "the library." I know the Wheaton Library has quite a bit of genealogical information, but didn't know if that was the library being referred to. Could one of you respond to let me know which library? There should be will/probate information at the courthouse, also, but I have not researched there yet. My paternal g-grandfather and g-g-grandfather lived in DuPage Co., the former in Itasca and the other in Addison Twp. (haven't been able to narrow it down further, as yet). Names are Henry Asche and Henry Ahlenstorf (or Albert Henry or Heinrich Albert). H. Ahlenstorf married Henry Asche's daughter, Emma. They had nine children, one of whom was my grandfather - Alex Ahlenstorf. Thanks for any help you can give me on that library. 2. Richard, Well I pretty much struck out for you, I did find one marriage, Charlotta Beuthe who married Henry Bartels, 7-14-1867 in DuPage Co. License # 4491 Ctrl # 428685 Vol B, page 19 Your people were there but I think the name must have been mutalated so bad on the census that it's something I sure didn't pick up on. I looked in the 1860 census index book and didn't see anything with either spelling. About the map, Wheaton Library does not have the 1862 map but I found a place you can get a copy. Dupage Historical Society, 102 E. Wesley St., Wheaton, IL. 60187 cost is $7.50 plus $1.00 postage. Odd that they don't have a copy, I looked and asked and they only had the book with the 1874 one. Also looked in the 1856 history book you mentioned and nothing there either. Did Henry/Carl die here ? any wifes name ? Cidney

    2. Paige, I live in Wheaton and I can look at the wills and probate list they have at the library. Just give me the whole name and I can check the list to see if there is a will. Some are stored elsewhere on microfilm but if it can be accessed by the public, I don't know. Maybe in the National Archives ?? Cidney

    1. [ILDUPAGE] Obtaining a copy of a will?
    2. Does anyone know the best way to get a copy of an old will? I would like to get copies of the wills of people who died in 1881 and 1914. When I called the DuPage County circuit court, they said they could mail copies of more recent wills, but for these dates they were stored off-site, and I would have to come in. Since I live in California, that's not an option! Are they available anywhere else of microfilm? Are there any listmembers who live in the area who would be willing to get copies for me? Thanks in advance, Paige Kolze Researching KOLZE, FRANZEN, EITERMANN, KLEINOW, SCHLUETER

They are $7.00 if you want a certified copy for "official" purposes. :o) Small bit of trivia that has nothing to do with genealogy. :o) We live in DuPage County and last year my husband and I decided that after 10 years it was time to bite the bullet and get married. We picked up our DuPage County marriage license and knew that it had to be used within a certain period of time but before that time came we decided to take a vacation to the Grand Canyon and stop in Vegas to get married. About a month after the DuPage license expired a letter came from DuPage County saying that we are guilty of a misdemeanor and had to pay a fine ($500. if I remember correctly) within 30 days because we didn't use their marriage license! lol - ------------------------------------------------------------------ My Personal Page http://people.ce.mediaone.net/susantort/ The Illinois USGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilgenweb Illinois Ancestor Registry http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilgenweb/queries Shelby County ILGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilshelb2/shelby.htm Barry County MOGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/barry.htm Why do banks charge a "non-sufficient funds fee" on money they already know I don't have?
