Hello Listers, I'm trying to locate any information on Ruby SHERMAN, believed to have been born in the Hinsdale area about 1916ish. Are there any searchable indexes for Birth, Marriage or Death records that anyone has access to, or does the 100 year "rule" apply? Perhaps the local Hinsdale library would have newspaper fiche/film records that SKS wouldn't mind doing a look-up. I would appreciate any help. Hi everyone Some one have access to the reference book, Landowners of DuPage Co., IL, 1835-1904: index to plat maps and related sources. Would you please look if there is a NIKLAUS, NIKOLAS, NICKLAUS, Mathias and Maria or any NIKLAUS for the years 1854-1870. I sure would appreciate it. Thank you Florence
Anne Thank you for the information. I will contact St. Luke's. I have been in contact with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, they have no record of my ancestors, Mathais and Maria Niklaus. Thank you Alice I will contact St. Luke's. My ancestors Mathias and Maria Niklaus must have died sometime between 1860 and 1870.The two youngest children Charles[Karl] and August according to the census are living with a Rathji family. John and Mary the older children I have not located. I have been unsuccessful in finding a death notice for Mathias and Maria or burial. Sorry I didn't mean to go into such depth. Florence, You asked about Lutheran churches in the Itasca area in the 1860s. My g-g-grandparents and g-grandparents belonged to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Church Road in Bensenville, IL. That church was founded in 1838 and is the second oldest Lutheran Church in Illinois. In the mid-1850s, Zion's members began to feel that the parish was too large. The congregation was divided into eight congregations, one of which is St. Luke's in Itasca. That may be the one you are looking for. There is also a cemetery associated with each church. I have ancestors buried in both. The information for each church is follows: Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 865 S. Church Road Bensenville, IL 60106 630-766-1039 St. Luke's 410 S. Is there a web site that may give the year Churches in the Itasca, IL were established. I'm looking for the Church that was in that area for the 1860's. Ancestors were Lutherans. Thank you Florence
Jack, I happened to go to the library today and my library has the Trib on microfilm, so I looked up that obit. I'll email you separately with what the obit said. Alice Ramsay Lombard, IL [ "It's considered bad luck to wear a tuxedo to a tax audit." ]
Hi Everyone, This is a long shot, I know, but I'm asking anyway. I just wonder if somebody might have access to the Chicago Tribune Newspaper for November 15, 1999, and would look up a death notice or obituary that was published that day for a TRIPAMER, Ruth Ann? I don't have access to it, and the Tribune's archives don't include that section, apparently. I will really appreciate it if someone has access and could help me with this. Thanks so much. Jack
Thanks, Mildred! That would be great! You all know I'm a little partial to Naperville, and with the long time rivalry between Wheaton and Naperville, I'm just trying to give equal time. ;-) Pat Mildred Mallek wrote: > > Pat: > > Since I was born in Wheaton (not at home but at a "Lying In" facility on > Manchester > Road), I must have some early pictures. Pat: Since I was born in Wheaton (not at home but at a "Lying In" facility on Manchester Road), I must have some early pictures. My parents moved there in 1919 after they got married, and my father worked for the CA&E RR. I'll look around and if I find some I'll scan them and send them to you. I even went to Wheaton College for my first year of college. Mildred in Lake Geneva, WI mallek@pensys.com
I probably shouldn't announce this, because then I'll be obligated to dig and and start working on it, but I just now (finally) got consent from the bank to transcribe portions of the "Tower to Tower" history of Wheaton. Thanks to Anne for following up so much on this book- John Searer was very nice- he's just been waiting and waiting for the board of directors to make a decision. I have very, very little on Wheaton, and the book doesn't seem to have many photographs. If anyone has any old town photos or vintage postcards- buildings or street scenes- and would be willing to scan them, please let me know! Thanks, Pat Sabin DuPage County History - http://patsabin.com/dupage/
I have been seeing many requests for census lookups for 1900, 1910 and 1920, plus other documents that the Archives have . This is a link to an online form that you can fill out to request them. The real COOL part is it lists all their holdings! I have been writing my own emails or snail mails, but this is much cooler, plus it listed some items I didn't realize I could request! Dear Barry: Alice's older sister Ann Eliza Pye married my g-g-grandfather Alva McDonald on 15 November 1865. They had one son Sherman Albert McDonald born in Naperville 1867. Sometime around 1870 they moved to Butte County, California. There Alva died in 1876, Sherman died 1909 and Ann died 1910. They are all buried in Chico Cemetery, Chico, Butte County, California. Now I have a problem. Ann was 5 years older than Alice as shown on the 1850 census. It shows that Alice's name was Alice Thatcher, which makes me believe that Betsy Thatcher was married previously. If you will get a copy of Betsy and Austin's married record, it will prove that Thatcher was her last name not Shutcher. I have that, if you would like a copy. It looks as if Betsy was married previously to a Thatcher because she and Austin married in 1848. Ann was born in 1840 and Alice was born in 1845. I have been trying to find out Betsy's Thatcher husband. My Ann was married to Patrick Reilly (Riley) and I believe he died in the Civil War. I have ordered his military records from the National Archives, but have not received them as yet. They had 3 daughters. I don't have their names at hand right now, but will send them to you. I don't know if they went to California with Alva, Ann and Sherman McDonald when they left Dupage County. It looks as if our Betsy Thatcher Pye is our g-g-g-grandmother, but I doubt that Austin Pye is our g-g-g-grandfather. By the 1850 census, and by Ann's birthdate, and the marriage record, he is no kin to either of us. If you would like, please keep in touch cousin. My e-mail address is dldewitt@xtalwind.net .
