    3. Jerry, York township history... Lombard is situated on section seven, being on the west side of the town, and on the site better known to old settlers as Babcock's Grove; but no plat by that name was ever recorded. DuPage and Cook Counties didn't exist for1830 Census. Both existed in 1840 Census and boundaries didn't change from then until today.. Used to go to Lombard to see the lilacs at a park in the spring when I was a kid.. probably the park was named Lilac Park.. 2. The railroads brought many people to the Chicago area and when the railroad people's numbers grew many of the suburbs were created. The DuPage area was once in Cook County. I'm not familiar with Babcock's Grove specifically. Hope this might be at least a lead for you. Nina

    2. Parts of Denmark became part of Germany following a war between the two. That probably explains the discrepancy between the birth and death cert. I have relatives who were Colemans but I believe them to have been Irish. Mary Coleman married Dennis Ahern and they had 4 children; one of whom was named George Coleman Colford. Any connection? 2. Does anyone know why an Irish immigrant would be destined for Babcock's Grove in the mid 1800s? My gg grandfather supposedly was headed there in the late 1840s or early 1850s. He ended up in Chicago by the late 1850s. My understanding is Babcock's Grove is now Lombard or in Lombard. Some Lilac or Lilaca Park is there?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. 1. [ILDUPAGE] Hardy family in Illinois
    2. Hello, I'm looking for my great grandfather, William V Hardy. I do not know positively that his middle initial is V - that's simply been "passed down" He did married my great grandmother, Lettia Luticia SNELLEN McHenry Bagby (1843-1912) December 25, 1875 in Henderson County, Illinois. I have a copy of their "marriage License" - a little sliver of paper I received from the County Clerk. My grandmother remembers that he was married before because he had his children from a previous marriage living with them. My grandmother, Ada May HARDY Robinson, was born in 1877 in Hancock County Illinois. Mr Hardy left, with his children from previous marriage, in the middle of the night when Ada was 4 or 5 years old. They never saw or heard from him again. She remembers him being tall, thin, straight, having a red beard, and proud of his Irish decent. I would love to find any info on this man! All ideas will be greatly appreciated! 3. Hi, I just want to mention to anyone who visited any of my web sites this week that the problem has been fixed! It never occurred to me that my server's hard drive could crash. All my remote files got corrupted, which in some cases meant scrambled eggs and in other cases meant some *very* interesting pages in place of mine! It was harrowing! The server ended up restoring all my files from their 8/03 backup, so I had to redo everything I'd added in the last five or so weeks. If you see anything strange, please let me know!
