I believe that should be listed in the city directories. If he lived in Clinton, particularly in the early decades of the century they listed each person's occupation. Also there was typically a separate listing of public officials, from the mayor on down. Warner Library has a number of the old directories. If you are unable to visit Clinton, I'd be happy to look for you. It would be easy if you knew the specific years that he was the postmaster.
