Funk's Grove is several miles roughly North of Waynesville, in McLean County. It is a small town SW of Bloomington, just off I-55. There is still a large stand of timber there, as I recall the largest tree in the state (a Blue Ash) is there. It is very beautiful, there is a chapel in the woods there where friends were married. I have also seen Bald Eagles there. The Nature Conservancy has programs there. As I recall there is a churchyard near the I-55 exit, might be a good place to start. Also you can post a query on the McLean County page http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmclean/ There are a number of resources listed there also. Among these is a list of early settlers: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmclean/data/gtm-ndx.htm Bob Halsey would be another possible, he has posted an ancestor's biography there, who homesteaded in Funk's Grove. By the way, Waynesville was part of McLean County from 1831-1839 (when DeWitt County was created), so that would also be the place to look for Waynesville are info prior to 1839. Good luck! Glen
