Can someone on the list help this person??? I found only the census reading below and nothing in the marriage or Cemetery records that I have. Please respond to her personally as she does not belong to the list Her address: [email protected] I need to ask a question, if someone moved to an area after the 1860 census and died before the 1870 census, where would be a good place to check for their place of residence...proof that they lived in DeWitt County, IL between those years?.... The gentlemen in question are Edward Caton, Sr. b. about 1819 in Ireland and his son Edward, Jr. b. about 1863, Pendleton County, WV.....Edward Sr. is reported to have died about 1866...possibly in DeWitt County... The reason I even suggest lookups in DeWitt is because his son, Edward, Jr., is reported to have made a statement regarding his father in a publication entitled the History of DeWitt County, IL under the Biography of Edward J. Cayton... I thought maybe you might find Ed, Jr in the 1870 census, some thought he went with his father...but it looks as though he went to DeWitt later...I know Edward Jr was in DeWitt at some point...I have a letter dated 1921 from Edward, Jr. to his sister in WV, it was postmarked DeWitt County, IL....and indicated that he had been living there for some time... At this point, I am wondering if Edward, Sr. ever made it to DeWitt, but his son seems to think so...also, Edward Jr had a sister, Sarah Agnes Caton who married Benjamin Franklin Bland, they were in DeWitt County as well...they were married in 1870, but I do not know which state....
