Hello.. Does anyone know about Poor Farms? I am trying to find information on a place called Hallsville Poor Farm in Dewitt County. I found a letter of some one wrote in the family that said that my 3 great grandfather died in the basement of this poor farm in 1929. His obit states that he died in the home of his daughter. This is the first time in my research that I have come across anything like this. Can someone tell me exactly what a poor farm is? Any Help is appreciated.
