Greetings list members: My seemingly untraceable connection to DeWitt County, IL is through my ggg-grandfather, Edward Caton, Sr., who reportedly left his wife/children in Pendleton County, VA/WV shortly after 1860 and possibly ended up in DeWitt County, IL...the only proof I have at this time is that 2 of his children did reside in DeWitt County eventually (modest proof)... I have a letter from his son, Edward, Jr., postmarked DeWitt County, 1921, written to a sister still in WV... My actual reason for writing to the list is my recent discovery of a photograph of a couple (circa late 1800's ?) that is marked Clinton, IL...to my awareness, I have no other DeWitt connection except through the Caton family...at least I have not discovered anything else...this photo was discovered among my grandmother's other photos, but no one can id the couple...I have a few other unidentified photos that resemble this couple in later years, one has my g-grandfather in it...leading me to believe that the Clinton, IL marked photo may be an ancestor...
