I would like to take a minute to thank Bob Halsey for all the work he has done. Because of him I have added a lot of information about my families in DeWitt County. Every day I open my mail hoping there is something from REHFLA. I even have a folder just for his postings. I hope this isn't TOT, but I do want to say, "THANK YOU, BOB!!" My Gano, North, Harper, Provin and Cantrall lines have branched considerably because of you. Kaylynn [email protected]
Recently Bob Halsey put out a message about several Cisco's from the Waynesville Centennial Book. I am the grandson of George W. Cisco so I can add to some of what Bob published. My father Dallas E. Cisco married Maggie Lee Patterson of Clinton in 1929. They had three children, me Richard Lee, James Dallas and Dorthy Jean. I married LaDonna Louise Peterson and we have two children, Dale Richard and Tracy Lynn. James married twice and had 3 children. Dorthy married twice and has 5 children. If anyone is interested in more detail I can supply it. I don't remember who was asking for the lookup but if you are part of George's family please contact me so we can exchange info. Dick

Waynesville Centennial Book Sept 5-7, 1975 Page 59 Mary, Goffery Everett LaDew was born October 8, 1892 in Atlanta, Illinois, the only child of James Everett and Pearl Camerer LaDew. At the Time of his birth and for several years thereafter, his father ran a grocery store. In later years, after a second marriage, his mother ran a board- ing house, where people came from miles around to partake of her culinary skills. Goff attended Atlanta scholls, where he captained the basketball and football teams during his high school years. His paternal grandparents were James A and Catherine Stryker LaDew; maternal grandparents were Thomas and Margaret McKey Camerer. His ancestors came to Atlanta from Ohio. Wealthy Brock was born June 2, 1893 on a farm in Waynesville Township, the fourth child and second daughter of Andrew J and Elizabeth Shaffer Brock. Her parents farmed northwest of Waynesville until the death of her father. Her oldest brother, Will, was a doctor and was written up in "Who's Who in the Medical World" for being the first doctor to ever replace bone in a human being with a metal plate; performing two such operations while a doctor at Joliet Peni- tentiary. Her brother Ray journeyed west and homesteaded in Montana. He is survived by a son, George Wendell. Her sister Catherine married Earl Johnson and they farmed in Atlanta, Illinois. She is survived by a son, Ted, living in Joliet, Illinois and by a daughter, Wealthy Johnson Wikle, who lives in Waynesville. Their paternal grandparents were William N Brock, son of Francis and Hannah Richards Brock and Mary Frances Scarrett, daughter of Aaron and Ellen Cavender Scarrett; maternal grandparents were George K Shaffer, son of John and Margaret Boyd Shaffer and Cath- erine Kinzel Shaffer, Daughter of Kizan and Elizabeth Darrow Kinzel. These ancestors, said to be the original settler of what is now called Funks Grove, also came to Waynesville area from Ohio. Wealthy attended scholls in Waynesville, graduating from the Waynesville Academy. Wealthy Brock and Goffery LaDew were married on June 21, 1917 in Peoria, Illinois and made their home in Waynesville. Goffery was a carpenter by trade, and died on May 8, 1948, while helping build a barn for Hubert Adair. Goff served as Waynesville mail carrier for several years. Wealthy and Goff were parents of seven children, five of whom are still living. They, and families are as follows: Andrew Brock LaDew and wife Dorothy Shipley LaDew and sons William and Gregory; Daniel D and wife Vona Moore LaDew and chil- dren Steve, Sheldon, Laura and Nathan; Steven K and wife Carol Craig LeDew and children Craig, Scott and Terri, all living in Waynesville. Adale Everetta and husband Randal Malone and children Neal, Linda and Ben live in Clinton, Illinois and Margery and husband Clyde V Turner and daughter Virginia live in Springfield, Illinois. Their son Jeffrey lives in Silver Springs , Maryland. Joffre Kay, the oldest son, born October 8, 1918, married Bessie Shaffer. They had two children, John Pat and Donna Kay. Joffre, always known as Kay, died January 21, 1964. John Pat married Nancy Taylor of Riverton and they are parents of a daughter, Tiffany Dawn. Donna married Charles Warner of Riverton and has a daughter, Kay. JoAnn Elizabeth, born January 17, 1923, married Paul Duvall and made her home in Chula Vista, California. She had three sons anda a daughter, a stillborn. Douglas Andrew, her third son, lived only three weeks. JoAnn died in April, 1964 and is survived by two sons, Daniel Paul and Jon Dennis. Wealthy died on June 29, 1973 of a stroke, after a lengthy stay in a Nursing Home, due to a previous stroke. I would like to add that Joseph Edwards came to work on the farm of the Brocks when he was in his teens, He stayed on or near the Brock LaDew homes all his life and was known to all of us as Uncle Joe. He died at the LeDew residence in 1947 and is buried in the Brock-LaDew Plot. PS: There is a number of Brocks buried together, somewhere in DeWitt or McLean County. I have a photo which was sent to me by one of my cousins showing about five tombstones. Sorry, but I don't know where it is at. Bob Halsey [email protected] Viera, FL

Bob, Thanks for posting the list of names. I'm working on the 1860 DeWitt County, Illinois, census and often have trouble figuring out the names because of the handwriting. This will probably come in handy. Judy
I just posted death notices that include the above names on my site at http://genweb.net/~irolee/paper/death.htm and I hope this of use to someone. Lori

Thanks. However you did not have the date that George died. It was in 1936, not 1956. Orville, his son and my dad's half brother also was killed in that accident. I am decendant from Dallas and if anyone is interested can fill in the decendants from there on. Dorothea died of scarlett fever when 8. Dick
Waynesville Centennial Book Sept 5-7, 1975 Page 65 The year 1880 marked the coming of the Dagleys to DeWitt County. Leaving their parents, Daniel and Elizabeth Parker Dagley in TN, the four sons, John, Jarves, Henry and Joseph, made their way to DeWitt County and located in Clinton and Waynesville. James and his family spent the rest of their lifetime in or near Waynesville. His wife was the former Izora Adcock, They were the parents of six children: Isaac, Viola, Earl, Cicil, Raymond and Nellie. All grew up in the country church at Mt Zion and later on in the Methodist Church at Waynesville. They married into the families of the Barrs, the Laugherys, and Wamplers, the Swans and the Crafts, spending most of their lifetime in the Waynesville environment. The name Dagley is not a common name. Many a phone books does not list it at all. If you will look on the membership roll of a Methodist Church, you will no doubt locate it. The Bible tells us "God knows each of us by name!" Most, if not all, the Dagleys knew HIM. To know HIM is to love and serve HIM. This they tried hard to do. Bob Halsey [email protected] Viera, FL
