Judy, I hope that I don't throw you with this one but could the name have started in PA as Bohrer??? I have several of these early on in Macon County and think it may be worth your time to check them out. They came from PA. Let me know if you want to take a peak at this information and I will send it. I spent 20 years looking for Plymire and it started as Bleymeiein PA. which a lot further than the above. Boyer, died in Decatur 11 May 1891 and was buried in Greenwood Cemetery 13 May 1891. He had three children: Clyde Essick Boyer who married Nellie Alice Cackley, daughter of David and Louisa (Weaver) Cackley of Clinton, IL; Ella, who married John Brandt; and Richard (or Raymond) who used the names interchangeably. I have searched for almost 20 years, trying to find John Boyer's parents. According to his obituary he was 48 years old at the time of his death and was born near Lisbon in York County, PA. His obituary states he was survived by "his mother, living in Pennsylvania." I have his Civil War records which do not list his parents by name but say he asked "for leave to visit his parents." I wrote for his marriage license in Berrien Springs, Mich., but it says "parents not listed." I know this is a long shot, but if anyone while doing research comes across any of the Boyer names, could they please contact me. I do have his obituary from the Decatur newspaper. I have often thought if I could get to Decatur and go through old newspapers, perhaps there would be a mention of his mother in some other context--maybe as coming to visit or something similar. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Judy in Nebraska
