Hi llist, The surnames I am researching from DeWitt County Illinois are: Fairbanks Myers Check my Web Site for Fairbanks and Myers from DeWitt County Illinois http://www.casstel.net/~jagile/ Jo Ann
Just to let all of you know that I have gotten at least a couple pictures of each cemetery that I visited on my trip on the page now. I will be going through each roll of film now and listing the stones I have pictures of. That will take some time as I have well over 400 pictures. This was an expensive project but when I saw the conditions in some of the older cemeteries, I could not find it in my heart not to take the pictures. I have pictures that my mother took of Hays/Coppenabarger cemetery in 1950 and at least half of the stones no longer exist. I am going to ask each of you who are brothered by the conditions of the cemeteries to write to the Illinois State Controller, who oversee's the laws and conditions of cemeteries and their care. The more who write the more chance someone will listen. The addresses are below and I will request that you send a copy of the letter to each of the two offices. There is also a feedback sight at the State Controller's page you can try that but I cannot get it to accept my messages: http://www.ioc.state.il.us/CemeteryCare/Feedback_EntryForm.cfm Office of the Comptroller - Springfield Executive Office 201 Capitol Springfield, IL 62706-0001 (217) 782-6000 Cemetery Care and Burial Trust 100 West Randolph Street Suite 15-500 Chicago, Illinois 60601 Please be patient for the list of pictures that I do have asit will take some time. I hope that all of you have found this information worth while and I thank each of you for your help. Sincerely, Earliene E-Mail: [email protected] or [email protected] Coordinator for: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ildewitt/

My surnames are: RAGON and BENUS/BUNUS. I have found some RAGON names, but no BENUS. Thank you. Allene Petree [email protected]
I have that Willmore cemetary is in section 28 of Harp township, not Creek. This from some cemetary records pubished by the Decatur gen. soc. in the 70's. Also, do you know if it's possible to look at some more official records regarding Rock Creek Cemetary? I think they're called "sexton" records, or something kept by the caretaker? Hello List, I would like to correspond with anyone who would be researching this family name of ROBINSON, in Farmer City. I have a photo album that has a picture of Dick ROBINSON, his wife Mary MOTE and their son William D. ROBINSON. I have no information on this family unit. Altho, I have information about Mary's father William MOTE and her mother Cordelia TURLEY. This photo album was given to my Grandmother Edith Mote SMITH, May 1866. Any, information about these ROBINSON'S would be a help, as I have not been able to find any. I got that they were here because of Wm. MOTE'S obit. Thank you Jean Hehn Colorado

Fairview Cemetery Located in section 16 of Waynesville township As discribed by a neighbor " just around the corner there is a junk yard and I think I have seen stones in there" That is exactly what I found out behind a house on the corner was a junk yard with old vehicles sitting out ringing the stones. Some stones stacked against what was left of a fence. If anyone would like to see pictures notify me privately and I will scan them to you. Dear List Members, Can someone in Illinois tell me if the State of Illinois does anything about rescue of old cemeteries? Does the Illinois State Genealogical Society keep a list of old cemeteries from information supplied by members? How about the DeWitt County Genealogical Society? This information should not be lost. Earliene, maybe you should write these up for an article in one of the quarterlies. You deserve the credit for seeking them out and reading the tombstones. Hello Everyone.... Wow.. I have just been overwhelmed with requests for lookups... I will get to everyone..just please be patient with me. I can only do this as time permits and do have a full time job. It will be several weeks beofre I get back to eveyone. If you don't hear from me in what you feel is a reasonable time...please message me again... things do get misplaced at times. ;-) Janice [email protected] http://homepage.davesworld.net/~klokdok/blimling.htm
Anyone interested in the conditions of the cemeteries I found: If you will send me your E-mail address and can accept scans I will scan pictures of Hall Cemetery. I will get them in the smallest format I can but they do take a while to upload so be sure that you want to see. I am starting to get my pictures back so I will make lists of what pictures I got where and post them so you can all let me know if you want a scan of the grave sites of your ancestors. Please wait till I post the lists though as I could not take pictures of them all. Earliene [email protected]
