Hi everybody, I am looking for someone to do an obituary lookup for me and send it to me via email. I would greatly appreciate it. If someone answers this, I would like to have an obit for HARVEY H. HALL died April 9, 1949. He died in Farmer City, Illinois and was buried in Fisher, Illnois, again I would like to thank you ahead of time to whomever might do this for me. Debbie in McLean County.
I am searching for the ancestors and family of Stephen MORGAN and his wife Martha _____. They moved to the Farmer City area between 1850 and 1860 from Cheney Grove Township, McLean County. Martha died in 1877 and Stephen died in 1880. Mark Carey [email protected]
Many of the settlers in DeWitt Co. were from Tennessee. Does anyone know what counties or area of Tennessee most of the came from? Mark Carey [email protected]
I am new to your list and would like information on the above names. In particular I would appreciate it if someone could look on p. 235 and 236 of the 1860 DeWitt Federal Census and give me the information contained there for James FORBES. I have checked your GenWeb site and cannot read it (it appears at the bottom of the first page). I would also like to exchange information with anyone researching the following DeWitt County names - FORBES, MOORE, NIXON and LASH. Thanks for your help. Bill Hansen Ottumwa, Iowa

Original Message from [email protected] <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>GOOD NEWS FROM THE ARCHIVES: Although this will remain "unofficial" for a short time, the Statewide Marriage Index worked on for so many years by the ISGS, State Archives, and Secretary of State Information Systems Services Department is now available on the Secretary of State web site. There is now a link to the marriage database on the Archives' homepage which may be reached at the following address: www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/arc_home.html Look under the "Search Our Online Databases." An official announcement concerning the database will be pending until more formal arrangements can be made. In the meantime, you are invited to give the database a test run and report any problems you might experience. There are currently a little over one million records in the online database. Plans are to update the database every 6 months or so. Eighty-four counties are represented in the online database. Data entry is complete for 43 of those counties. Please check out the supplemental information that is reached by links on the introductory page and the search entry and search results pages. We have tried to make it as clear as possible what records are included in the database and how to obtain copies of marriage records from IRAD or county clerks. IRAD currently has marriage records from 61 of the 84 counties represented in the database and we will soon accession marriage records from several others. I have placed a link on the first page index of the County page to the marriage database for all of you, it may be easier for you that way. Let me know what you think, but remember not all the marriages are in there. I know of two or three that I have records for that are not listed. Earliene
I want to compliment the organizer of the Dewitt County Site. It is by far the most informative, organized, and interesting sites that I have seen. There has been a lot of work put into this site and I just wanted the coordinator to know that I for one appreciate all the effort. I just joined the mailing list today and couldn't wait to write a letter of recommendation and praise. I am referring this site to other mailing list I am on. Thank you for a job well done. Here is something that those who have asked if there was anything they could do to help get information for DeWitt County on the Internet: According to the September/October ISGS Newsletter, 1,033,854 marriages have been entered into their statewide database. They have completed 42 counties, including Bond, Cass, Christian, DeWitt, Fayette, Logan, Macon, Menard and Sangamon. They are 'partially' done with 42 more including Clinton, McLean, Marion, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Stark and Tazewell. They had not started [as of August 20] 18 counties including Marshall, Putnam, Washington and Woodford. They still need volunteers. If you are local you can abstract information from county records but there are also volunteers who enter records into a personal computer. To volunteer write: Marriage Records Project, ISGS, PO Box 10195, Springfield, IL 62791-0195. This database, when complete, will be made available through the State Archives. The plan is for it to be online like other State Archive databases. To help speed this project along volunteer. Earliene
