Il Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Il/CrawfordObits/70 Surname: Ormiston, Bishop, Polson ------------------------- Note: I have no connection to this family. I'm just posting an Obit that was sent to me by Barbara Dix who is transcribing old news articles for the website. James Ford, son of James and Lucinda Ormiston, was born near Marietta, in Washington County, Ohio, on June 18, 1843, being the fifth of a family of twelve children. He died at his farm home near Hutsonville, Illinois July 5, 1930, being at the time of his death 87 years and 17 days of age. He served his country during the Civil War with Co F, 148th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. After the war he came to Edgar County, Illinois arriving there January 1, 1865. He bought a farm there but in September of 1866 he settled in Crawford County, never again to reside permanently elsewhere. He taught school several winters; but his major interest was farming. On November 18, 1868 he married Lucy Maria, daughter of Ezekial and Rebecca Bishop. To this union were born four children; Lena who preceded her father in death 14 years ago; Walter who lives on the home farm; Fred, of Graysville, Indiana and Oscar of Riverside, California. He leaves behind his wife, three sons, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister. He was raised Presbyterian, but in early manhood united with the Universalist Church, living a quiet, consistent, Christian life until the end. He was a loving father, a good neighbor, a friend to all, and "Uncle Jimmie" to the whole countryside. Funeral service was held at the Universalist church Monday morning conducted by Rev. C. A. Polson, pastor of the church, after which interment was made in Hutsonville cemetery being in charge of the American Legion.
