Hi Everyone, and a Merry Christmas to all. Here's hoping you find in 2001 that one little piece of info you need to get beyond the "brick wall". I'm currently working on compiling info for the Historical Society newsletter and the genealogy society newsletter for Jan. 2001. Hope to go to Terre Haute just after Christmas and get them printed. In the Historical Society newsletter will appear reprints of letters sent home from Civil War soldiers that appeared in the Robinson Argus in 1865 and 1866. And info about the two Flat Rocks and early stories of that Crawford Co. area. The gen. society newsletter will have a contiuence of the old county directory, and some old stories from the Hutsonville area. We'll have at least two pages of queries this time, and a little bit about the '49ers from Crawford Co. Barbara is still hot and heavy typing the old obits that we have. Barbara sure enjoys all of you who get back with her and tell her how much you appreciate all her work. And that is surely a work of love! She's a good member to have! Rita is working on another probate for us, she's another worker that has hot computer keys for being used so much! Slowly but surely we're getting those old probate records all typed up and put on our shelves. I'm hoping we'll get one or two more indices on our web page from those probates shortly. Dave just finished an 1867 commissioners/road book. Thanks Dave, got your package in the mail today and it went directly to Richard with original pages and he will proof it over the holidays. Carla is still working on the 1860 census for the web, and she has Phil Youngs "Honey Creek Times" that will be put on our web page. Burl and Rena finished up Goodwine Funeral Home records and are on the library shelf. Let's see.. we have 4 3 inch binders on the shelf with index from that project. Oh by the way, Goodwine Funeral Home is on line. They have current obits on line. Mr. Goodwine talked to the society recently and I asked him if he could maintain an archive of obits so that people can come in and check them. He said he never thought of that but would see. I don't know what his address is on line, but suppose you could go to Google and put in Goodwine Funeral Home and it should come up. Try it anyway. I'll have completed some more years on the Argus "Wanderers" etc. Hope I will have time to get some of them sent to Jim to put on the web page. May I say thank you to all of you who have come forward to compile information for the genealogy society, our web page, and the library shelves. It is appreciated! And thanks Jim for taking care of our page so well. Let's see is this starting the 5th year? Where has the time gone? This has been a good year for the society, a busy year, and 2001 seems like it will be another year of growth and busy, busy, busy. Merry Christmas again Sue
