Well Respected Citizen Enters Great Beyond. Thomas Noah Cox, the subject of this sketch was born in Johnson Co., Ill., June 30, 1854 and died at his home west of Hutsonville, Ill., Nov. 22, 1928, aged 74 years 4 months and 22 days. He was the son of Calvin and Hannah (Reynolds) Cox and the youngest of 13 children. His father died when he was 2 years of age, later his mother with the family came to Hutsonville, Ill., where he has since resided. He was united in marriage to Ora E. Chambers June 13, 1882 and to this union was born 4 children, Mrs. Ethel Voorheis, Bertha, Mrs. Neoma Crocker and Chambers Cox, all of Hutsonville also by 4 grandchildren namely Mary Alice and Emma Voorheis and Austin and Herschel Crocker. He was converted and united with the Old Hutsonville Baptist Church about 50 years ago. He lived the Christian life and left to his loved ones the assurance that all was well. He bore his suffering with patience. His companion preceded him in death 6 years ago. In the passing of Bro. Noah the Church loses a good member and the oldest in the Church. One who always had a hand shake and a jovial word of cheer when we came out on the old Church yard. For he was not given to gloom. A man who had in earlier days helped build up our homes. Come early with hammer in hand and drive nails all day long and when the long hot days come he came with the rising of the sun and shocked the golden grain till the going down of the sun. Then walk home tired but happy but Noah's hands have done their work and he has gone on to his reward. And we feel sure this will be an abundance entrance in the heavenly home where there will be no toil nor sorrow and disappointment.
