He was the son of Wilson and Mary E. (Sackrider) Boyd. His grandfather, John Sackrider, was a captain in the War of 1812. Mr. Boyd's father was born in Guilford County, N. C. in 1806 and came to the county in 1822. The deceased was the youngest of four children of whom only one survives, Mrs. Ruth Green. The deceased are Amanda and John S. Boyd. In 1861 Mr. Boyd married Fidelia Bailiff who d. March 17, 1886. Their children were-Bruce, Amanda A., Thomas J., William and Allen C., two of whom survive, Bruce and Allen C. In 1889 he married Clista Bailiff who survives. Burial at Bailiff Cemetery.
